Behind The Scenes: The Press Team

We as the press team, endeavoured ourselves in order to publish and create prominent videos & news including all committees . We try to demonstrate how they work really hard and how they enjoy doing their work.

If you would ask what is the difference between a delegate and a press officer?

There is a huge difference. Being a delegate requires a lot of knowledge and dedication. On the other hand, being a press officer requires someone who can observe and collect a lot of data about what’s going on during a conference or a meeting.

If you would ask, what is the significance of journalism in your life?

A lot of people join the press team to improve their skills and experience on how to be a journalist and what it requires. Journalism, in a lot of people's lives provide a foundation to become a globally bold citizen. It issues people with variety of opinions and educates a lot of people on how to respect others perspectives, nations and beliefs.

If you would ask what accomplishments we were most proud of in your TEDIMUN’19 Press experience?

We would answer, however, even though we work really hard, we don’t believe only in hardworking. We also believe that sometimes having fun times and chattering in our community helps us renew our energy and ableness for our tasks.

We sometimes had moments where people got really amateurish and anxious about their work being poor.

Goodbye Delegates

The GA2 committee was the committee that bonded with each other immediately during ice-breaker and worked as a whole team during sessions. Even though the committee issues were rather hard the hardworking chairs and the delegates made it seem like it can be easily solved. Every country had done their research and every delegate contributed so much to every debate. But the committee was had its best moments during” mandatory gossip time (7.5 minute)” and the games. Due to the hard working nature of every member of the committee as mentioned before the games were very amusing. From Game of Thrones spoilers in the gossip box to the Advanced Admin who has been replaced as the co-chair by the press. With all the inside jokes and fun times had in the committee it is clear to every single member of the committee from press to admins that TEDIMUN’19 will not be forgotten.

Dear Delegates,

I had a great time during MUN. Working with my committee and getting to know everyone was an incredible experience. It was my first MUN so I didn't know what to do, I was excited and my mind was blown. Still, everyone in my committee was very friendly and helpful. They were great support and guidance. I've made life-long memories in the past three days. One day I was sick and could not come, also because of my intensive work in the press I could not be around much. I wish I could've spent more time with my committee. Day one passed with games and meeting each other. We played two games which are soulmate and never have I ever. Day two our delegates learned how to write resolutions and they teamed up to write them, except for France. Germany and the USA were the most talkative while Russia didn't talk as much. Arabia was really funny that the delegate dressed up as an Arabian lady to represent their country. Day three our committee had a debate. USA and Germany were really competitive against each other. Russia spoke only once and Iran was very aggressive throughout the debate. Our chair punished Iran for interrupting the USA during their speech. Iran and Syria had to do karaoke while Russia did Just Dance. Currently, it's day four and the last day of TEDIMUN. I am really looking forward to joining other MUN conferences and gain many more memories. I hope I get the chance to see everyone in my committee again.

UNEP

My first time in MUN, with the best committee UNEP. Unfortunately now is time for goodbye. It was a 4-day road full of enjoyment and excitement. Dear delegates, you were all shy on the first day until you all became psychics with really great debate skills. After first-day debates continued and at the end of Sunday, one and only resolution was ready. The only problem was time because you had the passion to debate until death us apart. With sweet arguments, you made a resolution for plastic awareness. This conference had so much thing to my life It helped me to be more agile and it increased my awareness. One of the most important thing for MUN was being able to be a global human being. By seeing all the argument and debates from countries from all around the world helped me to gain a lot of knowledge and it expands my point of view and lastly thanks to my chairs Sinan Tezmen and Ayşegül Zengin for being considerate while making the arguments fun.

It has been a pleasure to work with all of you in the EC. I have learned a lot through the process and had a lot of fun. Even though a lot of people worked for this conference and spent days in ours just for these four days, and I have to admit that these past four days really went by quick. From meeting new people from different committees to having fun outside of the conference. TEDIMUN’19, unlike other conferences, was something a lot of people have worked on and we’re glad that all of the people that have participated enjoyed it and hopefully had a great time while they were here. Like every other committee, it is a must to mention some of the delegates that created a difference during these past four days. From being the best debater to talking the most, there are a lot of things to mention but let’s keep it simple. France was the best debater and talked a lot, and to be honest he is probably the most likely to end up in a MUN. Russia was the most likely to end up in jail, and this irritates me a lot because I’m also Russian myself. A lot of people came up to me and started saying that France and Germany were the best couples. We played a lot of would you rather which was a great group activity to get to know each other better, unfortunately, I can’t give any examples because the questions we asked were about our personal lives. One more thing I want to mention is that the more you come to these conferences the more you socialize and get experience for the future conferences you might participate.

Distinguished GA-1 chairs Mina and Duru. Dear delegates,

Even though you dont see me much, It has been a pleasure to work with you and be a part of all the fun and learning that you experienced in the past four days. You guys made TEDIMUN 2019 fun. We glad that we had u guys here.

In this four days GA-1 talked about International Security and Disarmament. In the community, some delegates made difference and showed up their potentials. Mina and Duru thought that Russia, Usa and Japan was talking good about International Security and Disarmament. Also France was debating very good. They were the main guys of the debate in the community. But China talked too much, chairs said. There are also fun things happened inside GA-1. Iran and India is funny. Iran is a chattering babe magnet and India is a clown and did empty.  France looks like 20 but he is actually 14. India tried to undress and someone had learned how to make a tea. So many fun things happened inside the community and people had a great time and earned new friends. TEDIMUN 2019 was a great Conferance in all aspects. We hope that next year will be better than ever.

Dear Delegates,

I had a great time with you. It was a very good MUN experience. This was the first organization of TEDIMUN but to be honest it was very good for first year and very different from  others. Despite come from Eskişehir alone, I didn’t suffer from this. I got used to it easily.

I’ve always followed the committee with pleasure, even though you don’t see me often because of the works in press room. I saw the committee was really prepared and ready. Sessions were so realistic. Each delegate acted in accordance with the policies of their countries. There wasn’t any illogical stuff. Delegates began to blocking for different ideas amongst themselves day by day. There were two main blocks: USA with most of the European countries and Russia, China with other countries. Both of the two blocks were successful. Debates and resolution preparations were productive. Committee did a very good job for such a diffucult committee as a Security Council.

Thank you all for your labor and making committee more fun and successful. I hope we can come together in other organizations.

UNODC

It has been a privileged time for me to work with all of you, even if I did not get to know all of you, I am truly proud of the amazing things we accomplished during this short time period.

We advised ourselves and others about substance abuse and treatment of drug addiction, which is one of the major issues going on in the world right now. I believe we had a high level of proficiency in justifying and describing what people need to realize in order to create an awareness and instil the idea of preventing substance abuse.

Special thanks to our admirable MUNODC Chairs Sofya and Oğulcan for their amazing leadership and assistance for the delegates.

Expecting to work with you all again in the future!

Positive Living

Comprehensive sexuality education programs have a positive impact on young people’s sexual and reproductive health and their ability to make safe and informed decisions. But the topic of abortion remains absent from most programs, even in places where abortion is legal. This restrains young people’s ability to avoid the dangers of unsafe abortion, to make fully informed choices, and to exercise their right to safe, legal abortion.

In the countries where abortion is highly restricted by law, unsafe abortion has been endangered life of many women. On the other hand, in the liberal countries, safe abortion has neither been

easily accessible nor harmless. No matter of what is the type of abortion, there are public health issues involved e.g. feeling doubtful, sad, confused, or guilty about the abortion as well as the risk of mental issue and breast cancer among the young women to overcome the issue of unintended pregnancy, the U.S. government have funded sex education in public schools of the large cities aiming for a reduction in harmful aspects of unintended pregnancy. Lack of safe abortion care is an enormous problem for women living with HIV, as are requests that they agree to sterilization in order to access abortion services. Safe abortion should be included as an indicator when assessing comprehensive health services for HIV-positive women; and research on unwanted pregnancy, abortion needs, and abortion care for HIV-positive women.

A key element in developing such education programs is accurate assessment of the knowledge, attitudes, concerns and behaviors of the young people at whom the programs targeted.

The programs should include appropriate knowledge about the infection, skills and attitudes that permit effective communication, responsible decision making, and the development of healthy human relationships that will protect themselves and others from HIV/AIDS infections.

Sex is a natural part of life, and it happens with or without sex education. Sex is a fundamental part of being human. Just because we refuse to talk about sex doesn’t mean it's just going to go away.

Interview With The Admins

We asked our admins couple of questions about how TEDIMUN‘19 is going and their answers were similar. The questions were:

1-)How is everything going? Do you have a heavy workload as admins?

2-)The hardest duty they have done so far

3-)Their expectations from being an admin, did it full fill your expectations.

4-)Would they recommend someone to be an admin.

5-)Are they happy with their Head of Admins?

6-)Do you like the atmosphere of TEDIMUN?

Mostly, our admins said that their work was hard but worth to do it because they are having great time. In interviews, our admins were all saying that they had hard times at the beginning of the conference. They said that it was hard to handle the registration process because it had to be .

A admin said that ‘‘They poured into our school so quickenly  thats why we lost the handle’’.

The expectation of our admins from TEDIMUN had divided into two answers. Half of the admins said that they did not have very high expectations from TEDIMUN 2019 because it is our first ever conferance. In the other hand some admins had very high expectations because they believed that TEDIMUN 2019 will be great. All the admins said that their expectations were much more higher than expected because everyone is doing their job perfectly. We asked to admins that do they recommend their job to someone. ‘‘ Everyone is having great time in the conferance, we all admins having great time, of course I would recommend to be an admin’’ said Ceren. We all know how cute Yaren and Defne is but we wanted to learn their thoughts. All the admins love Head of Admins. They all close friends that’s why their friendships are strong. And the last question that we asked to admins were that do they like the atmosphere of TEDIMUN. The admins think that this MUN has a more calm and collected atmosphere compared to other MUN’s.  We all are thankful to our admins for their work.

A Letter From The Heads of Admins

Dear delegates,

We are the Head of Admin for the TEDIMUN 2019 conference and we are delighted on how the conference has been running thanks to this years wonderful delegates, the STAFF and the STOFF.

We have been in this school for at least 5 to 6 years. This school had always supported and encouraged open mindedness and provided all kinds of opportunities. We hosted several conferences like TIUF, EnvironmenTED and organized various events. Last year our MUN Club, which participates international and national conferences every year, decided that it’s time to organize our own conference aka TEDIMUN!

We have been planning this conference since last year’s HMUN Conference in Amsterdam.  At first, it started as a joke, we were fooling around but then it slightly got more serious. We were sitting in a burger place and 5 minutes later we had all executives decided. That was our starting point, from that moment, we never stopped. Being AP students we have lots of responsibilities and the conference preparations did add on some stress one might say. However, when we see the conference come to life, it makes it all worth it. The fact that students from ages 14 to 18 have travelled from all around the country to discuss issues and possible solutions to real world problems proves that we millennials aren’t as bad as we have been told we are.

Love,

Yaren Şen & Defne Gözet
